Born in 1972 on the island of Madeira hundreds of miles south of Portugal in the North Atlantic Ocean, I immigrated to California in 1975 with my family. In my mid-twenties I decided to follow my childhood passion of drawing. I enrolled in life drawing classes, which led me to the instruction of Jim Smyth at The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto. It was under his guidance that I learned that art was far more then just exhausting details. I fell in love with master impressionists such as Bongart, Sorrolla, Fechin and particularly the Russian impressionists. It was not until I met Ovanes Berberian that I fully understood the endless possibilities of paint. I have spent the last two years absorbed by those possibilities.
