Artist Biography: J.C. was inspired to begin sculpting but realized he didn’t have the tools, literally speaking. He began by collecting wax that was used in packaging cheese to serve as the foundation for his creations. Popsicle sticks served as his first sculpting tools as he began to create his miniature sculptures. J.C. was not free to devote all his time to the development of his artwork. Ranching life is busy for adults and children, and he was constantly in need around the ranch. Although ranching can be a tough way of life, J.C. feels that his 50 years of being involved in ranching has provided him with an edge that he now brings in to his sculpture. Growing up around cattle, horses, and cowboys provided a wealth of information for J.C. to draw upon when sculpting.
