Artist Biography: One can often find Jan Perkins out painting on location next to a river, in the Uinta Mountains of Utah, the Tetons of Wyoming, or in a neighbor's back garden. She finds the interesting the unusual views of light playing with color. She paints the things of beauty; things that make her happy, scenes that stir her soul.

A personal friend writes: "Jan is a lover of nature and all things true. A student of the light which she captures in paint. Animals, wildlife, rivers are her benchmark. Joy her catalyst. She seeks the things of soul, of place, of delight, with her eyes and hands. Great is her appreciation for things of pure spirit, the spirit that resides in all natural things and the peace that encompasses the artist in her reverie as she paints."

Jan has been drawing and painting animals since she was three years old. She graduated in painting and illustration at Utah State University and has been making a living at it ever since. Jan has completed a large variety of commissioned works, from Greek ceiling paintings, portraits of musicians in the Utah Symphony, paintings for the ski resorts, "Solitude" and "The Canyons", to paintings of show and race horses. Very soon she will be participating in preservation and conservation of open and wild places with her paintings.

Jan's artwork is collected by many throughout the United States from West Palm Beach, Chicago, Philadelphia, to Boston and San Francisco. She has several collectors in Utah, her home state. Jan has exhibited her paintings in many local and national shows, one of which, was the Society of Illustrator's Show in New York where she has twice won Certificate of Merit. Jan has resided in Park City, Utah for the past several years enjoying a happy life with her husband, Alberto, and their animals.
