T.D. Kelsey grew up on a ranch near Bozeman, Montana, marrying his high school sweetheart, Sid, in 1964. He rodeoed for many years in rough stock events and team roping. Presently, TD trains and shows cutting horses. He worked as a commercial pilot for United Airlines, resigning in 1979 to devote full time to his art. He continues to fly privately. Kelsey’s art studio is located at their ranch near Pompey’s Pillar, Montana.
TD’s interest in and promotion of the Texas Longhorns, his continuing participation in the maintenance of a wild horse herd and his concern for the preservation of wildlife worldwide have inspired many of his works, including the monuments “Texas Gold” located in the historic Stock Yards area of Fort Worth, Texas; “Briargate Mustangs” in Colorado Springs, Colorado; “Royal Challenge” for Cabela’s in Sidney, Nebraska; and “The Plainsman” for The Denver Buffalo Company in Denver, Colorado.
Kersey’s work is found in private and public collections worldwide. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society, was featured artist at the Thomas Gilcrease Museum and is the recipient of numerous national and international art awards. His sculptures are available in very limited editions.
